Lisette Fabric

I've been trying to rein in my fabric buying until all my stash can be stored in the drawers of my sewing room but I couldn't resist when I saw that our local JA's had the Lisette fabric in stock.  I went ahead and purchased the blue medallion print sateen for my Passport Dress.  And because I liked the way the lawn felt, I grabbed a yard.

I also picked up some other fabrics for pants/shorts for the 2 younger girls:

Linen lycra blend and 100% cotton ripstop (?)

And lastly this print for a Jump Rope Dress:

I had B with me and she kept lobbying for some pretty obnoxious prints.  "But Mama, it's so PRE-E-E-E-TY!"  "Don't you think it's bee-you-tee-ful?"  It took a ring pop (for her) but we made it out of the fabric store.

  1. These are wonderful fabrics. I know the story about the kiddoes wanting some really tacky, obnoxious fabric. Sometimes, making pajamas or a gown works when you just have to buy it!

  2. Miss M (age 4) always says, "Mama, we NEED this fabric." And she usually gets "giant smarties" at checkout. Ha!

    I love that last print!

  3. I love the Lisette fabrics...the one on the right is my favourite. It is so hard not to buy fabric, isn't it!? The bottom fabric is very pretty too. Can you imagine the pestering my two will do when they get a bit bigger!

  4. How much py is the Lisette fabric at Joanns? As of yesterday my local JAs ( an hour away) did not have any yet. Your choices are beautiful.

  5. Thanks Julia! Yep, i've done that a time or 2. P remarked he wanted a Green Bay Packer print shirt and pants for regular clothes...my reply, "Only for PJs!".

    Christephi, Heh...B thinks fabric store=treat!

Millie, The lawn on the right is my favorite too. Usually I'm willing to indulge her but 1)It was an ugly print and 2) I have a ton of prints and don't need more. You'll have some fun with the twins when they get more opinionated!

Ruth, The lawn is $9.99, the sateen $12.99, and the chambray is $14.99. I didn't check the other offerings (twill, poplin) but from what I gather the price range for all the lisette fabrics are $9.99-14.99.

  6. I didn't know anything about Lisette fabric until today, when I bought some at JoAnn's & got a great deal with my coupons! You're right -- It's great fabric, feels silky soft, and I can't wait to sew something for my granddaughter!

  7. Linda, I'm working on a blouse right now for my younger 2 girls out of the lawn and it's so nice! The drape, the feel...I'm going to have to purchase some more!

  8. Is the 100% cotton fabric from Lisette or another brand? Also did you get it at JA?

    Thanks

  10. Thanks! Do you have any idea what brand the cotton ripstop was? I've been looking for something like that forever.

  11. I have no clue and there's nothing written on the selvedge. We have 2 stores locally and it was in one of them but not the other (I checked!). There was a small section titled outwear fabric and that's where the fabric was located.
