Nature Walk Pullover: Packer Style

We won't discuss Monday night's football game and the idiot replacement referees.  That's still a sore subject around here.

Here at the M Casa we are trying to put that debacle behind us and look forward to Sunday's game against the Saints.  And someone has a new pullover to wear during the game.  That is if the weather cools down.;)

P is wearing the Nature Walk Pullover from Oliver + S in a size 12.  The top is made in a green polar fleece with Green Bay Packer woven fabric for the inside of the collar, front facing, and for the lining.  The fit is decent but if I make him another, I'll lengthen the body a few inches.

My camera's battery died before I could get a picture of the Packer fabric that is visible inside the pockets.  Originally, I was going to use the GBP fabric for the lower front and back panels but I opted to go with a less obvious look.

For your enjoyment, I'll share a little funny incident involving this pullover...

When the top was finished with the exception of hemming, I held it up and thought, "Hmm, I bet this will fit me."  It went on okay and kind of fit but was a bit tight through the chest.  I went to pull it off so that P could try the pullover on and disaster struck.  I. Could. Not. Get. The. Top. Off.  The polar fleece has give but the lining on the lower half is a quilting cotton and has no give.  I started freaking out and was sweating bullets.  Polar fleece is not the material to be wearing when it is 83 degrees out!  Luckily, with both of my older kids helping me, I was able to escape the shirt of doom.  I'm just glad neither one of them thought to take a picture.  That's what I would have done if the situation had been reversed!

  1. Ha! I have done that before, but it was trying on a sports bra in a change room. I did manage to wrangle it off, but I was thinking I'd have to steal it and cut it off at home! :-)

    Very nice sweater though!

    1. John was so furious that he was up half the night stewing about it. It has not been a happy week here. We were glad to see that the NFL came to terms with the striking officials. I don't know that we would have survived another game like that!

    1. Now you tell me! I'm teasing.:) I really like that style though so I might be upsizing for me but I'll make sure it's in an interlock. Thanks, Nicole!

  5. See, this is the greatest thing about sewing for our kids. We can make these totally specific clothes that fit their exact needs/loves. Also, HILARIOUS mental image of you trying to wriggle out of the sweater. Hehe! Glad you made it out alive.

  7. P. is also wearing the Aussie green and gold. Now, had the kids thought to take a photo, there could have been some bribery in years to come.

  8. It looks great! this is one pattern I keep saying that I will get to and it still sits on my shelf. I'll have to make this in the kids favorite teams too. I'll be sure not to try them on. ;)

  9. I have done that same thing- tried on clothes meant for Grace. It has yet to work out positively for me.

  10. Bahahaha! Glad it came off without scissors:)
I was screaming at the t.v.! Ben was undecided as "tie goes to the offense" but I got him feeling my way by the end of the night.
Pullover looks great... I may be convincing Jack he likes sports and copy... or just not tell him what it is:)

    1. The win last night has a gone a long way to soothe the anger over Monday's game. Though, there were a few dodgy calls or calls not made in that game too. Football.

  11. Great pullover, and the lining fabric is a wonderful. I hope today's game does much better :-) You created a very funny mental image of trying to get out of the pullover - I hope you're recovered ;-)
